Microsoft has entered the world of motion gaming with its line of Kinect games and Xbox Kinect.  The exterior camera system tracks the movements of one or more game players in its field of vision.  Then it sends the motions in real time back to the Xbox.  This new technology allows for the new games to integrate with the Xbox.  Translating actual movement into the on-screen game has become a popular new fitness and play trend.  An advantage with these  developments is that gamers will not have to purchase any extra controllers or accessories to use the latest XBox Kinect games.

The recent Xbox 360 features Kinect-ability with a port designed especially for the exterior camera’s plug-in.  This port also provides power for the peripheral camera.  For older Xbox systems, you can buy a separate Kinect camera that connects into the Xbox’s USB ports.  The older models also need external power provided by the power cable that is provided. This is because the camera needs extra power that can’t be delivered through USB. The special Kinect port and cable on the new XBox will handle the extra load.

With the latest Xbox you get a smaller size and black shiny exterior finish.  It is a great new look for a great new toy.  The sound of the new model has been quieted down considerably compared to the older console versions.  Microsoft managed to shrink the whole package while still bringing in positive new features such as the hard drive with 250 GB and onboard wireless capability. Before, you had to pay extra to add on these features.

With the new Xbox Kinect, you get a smaller, more efficient CPU.  It takes less power to operate and contains a better quality cooling system (2 fans have been replaced with a single more powerful fan).  You do not have to fear the red ring of doom any more.  If your new system overheats on the rare occasion, it will shut down on its own. Kinect games and Xbox Kinect have a lot to offer the motion gamer.
