The Draw Of Mini Notebooks
Everyone has their own theory on why the general population has fallen in love with mini things, the smaller the better. Whether it’s a mini notebook, cell phone, or camera. People want to get the smallest possible version of anything and as soon as a smaller version comes out they are selling their 6 month old gadget for the latest and greatest.
While I might not understand why people do this, I must say that I somewhat fall into this category. Especially when it comes to mini notebooks or netbooks. Asus is really known for making these models popular. They released a 7 inch model a few years back that took the industry by storm, everyone had to try or buy one. Lately however some advancements have really made these style of laptops a great choice. The processors have improved and so has the overall design.
It’s important to remember that even the top of the line mini laptops can’t compete with even the most basic of standard laptops. There is only so much you can fit into such a small package. They do however make a great second computer that can compliment your main home computer, whether it’s a desktop or another laptop.
They do a great job of taking care of the easy day to day tasks that include email, small word processing jobs, financial docs, web surfing, or just general information look ups. Some of the newer models in fact can even play full 1080p HD videos which is great. You can install either the Hulu or Boxee application and watch TV and movies right on your extremely portable mini notebook.
Lightweight and extremely portable, these guys are the complete mobile package. They can be had for well under $300 dollars. If you can, try to get a model that has the new Ion processor in it. Those are the models that are great at playing the HD video.
