Ideas for Games for Project Natal
Project Natal is the code name for an accessory that is coming out for the Xbox 360. It is a set of cameras that can track your entire body’s movement. It takes what the Nintendo Wii did for video gaming to the next level by allowing you to control video games with your entire body’s motion, instead of just using your hands moving a controller around. This will definitely open up some possibilities for all new sorts of games. So far, there hasn’t been too many games that have been released, but from the tech demo videos and other demonstrations at conferences they have shown a few different games for Project Natal, and so I will share those with you.
Paint Party
One game that was shown on the videos was a game for Project Natal called Paint Party. Paint Party is a game that allows you to express your creativity and create art by moving your body around, and doing different gestures to get different kinds of brush strokes. If you reach below you with two hands and motion upwards, you’ll be able to splash large amounts of pain onto the digital canvas. If you use single handed strokes, you’ll be able to make more specific brush strokes of paint. Paint Party even utilizes the voice recognition capabilities of Project Natal by allowing you to call out the color you want to use next.
Meet Milo
Project Natal Milo was another game that was showcased at E3. Meet Milo is a completely new video gaming experience. You’ll be able to truly interact with the on-screen character named Milo. He’s a boy, that can recognize what you say, and respond back to you. He can even recognize different vocal patterns to see what kind of mood you are in. You’re able to interact in his world, thanks to the use of the cameras on Project Natal.
While there are definitely more games to come in the future, these games are a great look at exactly what is possible with this new video gaming technology.
