To choose the five top SNES games of all time can be a challenging task. The popularity of the Super Nintendo (or SNES for short), had software developers amassing games by the thousands. For awhile, the SNES was the ultimate in 16bit gaming systems. Choosing a top five has always sparked some considerable debate amongst gamers. Everyone has their favorites, but these five are generally considered to be the best.

  1. Super Mario World is the king of SNES games. It tops the list for numerous reasons. First of all, the developers really put forth the time and effort it takes to create a fantastic game. Second, the G rating lends it a mass appeal. Lastly, the game is seriously fun to play, with rich characters that have a strong fan base.
  2. Placing in at number two, is Super Mario All Stars. This serves as a testament to the popularity of this Nintendo franchise. This neat game features favorite characters from the previous games, as well as the original Mario game for the NES. There are also several other games for the player’s enjoyment.
  3. Reigning in at number three, is Aladdin. This game is based on the blockbuster Disney cartoon of the same name. The development of the characters lends a new depth to the storyline, immersing the player in the world of Aladdin. With incredible graphics and game-play, Aladdin is sure to delight hardcore fans in love with the movie.
  4. At a close number four, is Super Mario Kart. This awesome game improves upon the original Mario Kart. Probably the best feature of this game is the multi-player mode. This allows players to go head-to-head in frantic racing challenges. This feature was an immense improvement upon the original, and lends it a long lasting appeal for gamers of all ages.
  5. Last, but not least, coming in at number five, according to the SNES Games Guide, is Tecmo Super Baseball. Inexplicably played by many, this game has not been given the credit it truly deserves. Despite not making an impact upon the gaming community, Tecmo Super Baseball is an exciting game that is sure to have baseball fans playing it for hours.

One would be hard-put to find a definitive list. Evidently, this is just one among many. With the incredibly extensive list of games in the SNES archive, there will always be arguments as to which ones are the best. This particular list was created after some serious deliberation.
