Comparing Uverse Against DirecTV
Many who have enjoyed AT&T phone service for years are wondering if they should try out the new Uverse TV product. While there are bugs anytime a new service comes out, there are also good deals to be had as they try to entice new customers over. With DirecTV and Dish Network being primary competitors to AT&T, they often invite their customers to compare the channel offers and prices of the two companies. How does AT&T Uverse compare with DirecTV?
Both companies are leaders in the market right now when it comes to high definition channel content. DirecTV claims over 130 HD channels, and Uverse has over 100. DirecTV inflates their numbers by counting pay per view HD channels so in actuality both companies have about the same amount of high def channel content. One advantage Uverse currently has is their Total Home DVR makes it easier to watch your recorded content anywhere in your home. DirecTV is planning to offer a similar digital video recorder in 2010, but at this time you can only watch content on the DVR device hooked up to one television.
The one area many will want to pay close attention to when comparing Uverse vs DirecTV is in the area of sports content. Right now, DirecTV holds an exclusive contract with the NFL for the Sunday Ticket package through the year 2014. So you won’t be able to get that on Uverse or any other cable TV provider for that matter. DirecTV is also a better choice for the other out of market sports packages as well. The NBA League Pass, the NHL Center Ice package, and the MLB Extra Innings bundle are all available through satellite service, but not through AT&T, at least at this time. So serious couch potatoes certainly will want to evaluate whether Uverse TV is the right way to go. If you have additional questions about this new option, reading up on the latest AT&T Uverse reviews will give you an idea of what customers think of the service.
