The flip digital video camera was released in 2006 by Pure Technologies to a huge market. The little video camcorder has taken the world by storm with its super compact size and huge high definition video capabilities. It comes in two great models, The Flip Mino and Ultras series. Both are great however the Mino has been the biggest seller according to Amazon since its inception. I bought one of these and must say I was highly impressed. It is about the size of a cell phone and packs a powerful punch. It shoots high definition video and I bought the 120 minute version. There is also 60 minute version for about 50 dollars less give or take.

The biggest selling point of the Flip video camcorder is definitely the easy of connectivity for uploading. It gets its name because it connects to your computer via USB which actually flips out of the device with the click of a button. All you do it plug it up directly and voila you are downloading videos at a rapid rate. This makes it perfect for those quick little videos of your children or perhaps family outings. You can also plug it up directly to your high definition flat panel television and watch your video instantly.

Now there are obviously better video cameras on the market for you to purchase but why pay the extra 500 or 1000 dollars when you can get what you need out of this little nugget for a third the price. Not to mention you don’t have to lug a bigger piece of electronics and constantly worry about where you are going to put it so that it does not get damaged. This is the biggest concern among video camcorder carriers. I know for me personally, I love the fact that I can throw my flip in my pocket and carry it with me anywhere. Ease of use is huge with me and this Flip is definitely the easiest. The women love it as well because it fits in their purse and takes up little room. Its very lightweight as well so all in all I highly recommend the Flip high definition camcorder.

Advantages
This camera gets a lot of great reviews from buyers, and I love how they come in so many bright colors. They are perfectly understandable at a four year old level and very durable. The games are fun and engaging, as well as easy to play. It comes with rechargeable batteries and a video cable that can connect the camera to the television. It will even take short home movies and play them on your TV. Pictures are of reasonable quality considering the product is a child’s toy. For the money overall this camera seems to be a great buy for most families who will use it.

Disadvantages
I read several times that they did not respond well to Mac computers. I also read that some parents had problems recharging the batteries. While this is a pretty good kid’s camera, they in no way can be compared to an adult’s camera. Children age three and under may have difficulties getting the hang of the buttons and making it work right for them. They can sometimes have difficulties playing the games at this age, and though it is pretty sturdy, it is not indestructible. Families with children this young may not get the full benefit from the VTech Camera and kids three and under will probably get frustrated with the product.

Even with the disadvantages mentioned here, this is a very good camera to introduce your child to the wonderful world of digital photography and movie making. With the help of the vTech Kidizoom digital camera you may help the world uncover the next Ansel Adams or Stephen Spielberg.
